Goodbye Cochabamba, Hello Santa Cruz

Today I leave Cochabamba where I have been living for the past 2 1/2 weeks. It has been quite the journey these short couple of weeks. Full of smiles, tears, homesickness, confusion, anger, and new developed relationships. My journey of finding myself and discovering God has been quite interestings. Something that I have taken up is writing and drawing. Me! I am probably the least talented person artistic wise but it is quite therapeautic. Last night I drew a picture of God and me...except this wasn´t your normal picture of white passive looking Jesus surronded by light. Nope. This was a big-breasted brown mother of the earth holding her broken child. Blasphemy...some might say...I say LIBERATION! For so long I have felt guilty for not connecting with God as we are taught in middle class white churches. But no longer...as I discover Him and myself. He transcends all.
So goodbye Cochabamba...

I will miss...

1. Hilda, Gutti (Happy Birthday!), Pilar, Clevia (host family)- and the dogs...especially Negrito because he would follow us to school every day.
2. Going to bed with Allyn and talking til we fall asleep
3. Dogs trying to love me or bite me on the street (although some of that might still take place in Santa Cruz)
4. Language school (the people, not actually learning- four hours of Spanish every day was quite boring)
5. Watching the sun set behind the beautiful mountains every night
6. Jesus on the hill (even though He is in my heart :))

Hello...

1. Host family in Santa Cruz
2. Guardia Samuelito
3. Nose ring (hehe)
4. Hot, humid weather
5. MCC dinners every Wednesday

More to update later. Remember don´t allow others to scare you into believing. Believe because He wants you and wants a relationship with you because it will be like no other. Because there is no one else like you. (Important lesson I learned this week).

  2. I totally connected to your comment about writing and drawing. I have found that when we are out of the "normal" routine, or perhaps depending on God differently than normal, it is by unusual means that we find that outlet to connect.
    Praying for strength and confidence
